Calling all WRV Leaders!

Join us to launch the 2019 project season with a night to remember. Catch up with old friends over great food and get a sneak peak of the project season. AS always, we will invite leaders to sign up for leader roles throughout the coming season.

This year Boulder Team Night will again be held at St John's Episcopal Church, 1419 Pine St. We encourage you to bring new folks who you think would make a great leader. Team night is a great evening for new leaders to register for spring training and to learn one-on-one with you about the leadership program at WRV.

INTEREST IN BECOMING A LEADER?
If you've not been a leader yet, or never attended Team Night before, this is a great way to get to know other leaders and get involved on a more in-depth level with WRV. You'll have a chance to talk with others about training to be a leader in many roles, and what their personal experiences have been as leaders on WRV projects.

Calling all WRV Leaders!

It's been a long, cold, dark winter...and I don't know about you, but the WRV staff sure do miss sun filled days digging in the dirt with our wonderful leadership community.

Thankfully, it's time for TEAM NIGHT 2019 and we can't wait to kick off the season with our leaders with a night of project previews, catching up with friends, food and signing up for leader roles on projects.

This year Fort Collins Team Night will be returning to Greyrock Commons in north Fort Collins. Event will be held from 5:30-8:00pm

We'll cover all the major WRV projects scheduled statewide, giving you the chance to sign up for volunteer leadership opportunities for the 2019 season. New leaders are invited to learn about leader positions and find out how to get involved this season. Current leaders are encouraged to bring someone they feel would be a great potential new leader for the WRV team.

Restoring Forward Into the Wild: Ecology Hike & Swedish Picnic

COMPLETED

Very Difficult    ●    Morning    ●    Minimum Age: 12 accompanied by an adult (more info)
Date(s):
Sunday May 19, 2019 - Number of Volunteers: 24
Hosted by Drs. Tate & Seastedt: Travel up the remnants of a mining claim road that was used to transport fire equipment during recent fires. Visit meadows in need of proactive restoration (removal of weeds) and see where passive restoration does and does not work in post fire and post flood habitats. Discover that this hybrid landscape is still home to many desirable - and a few undesirable - plants and animals native to the foothills. $35/person; all proceeds benefit WRV.

Because this area lacks established trails, only those with rock-hopping abilities should attend. The area is home to rattlesnakes and poison ivy which, with care, can be avoided.

After a vigorous hike, relax and enjoy a picnic with Tim's delicious Swedish rye bread and other Swedish dishes.

Donations will be accepted at this event.

WRV's Future Home - Join the Discussion!

RESCHEDULED, THEN COMPLETED
Was originally scheduled for July, delayed until August, then completed.

Easy    ●    Evening    ●    Minimum Age: 18 (more info)
Date(s):
Monday Aug 05, 2019 - Number of Volunteers: 100
RESCHEDULED: The evening of Aug 5th, a group will gather to discuss what could be the biggest transaction in WRV's 20-year history - the purchase of a building to serve as our base for Boulder-area operations

Over the past several years, many within WRV have dreamt of finding a permanent home for the organization, and simultaneously, occupancy expenses for the Boulder office have steadily climbed.

This spring, WRV signed a contract to buy a building in northeast Longmont. We recently completed our inspections and feel confident to move forward with the purchase. We are excited to show you the building that evening!
Because this is such a significant decision for the organization, it is important for us to hear from our community on the idea.

Here are the plans for Aug 5th:
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm: Gather in Lanyon Park at the West Picnic Shelter (closest to Collyer Street) in Longmont.

7:00 pm: Walk to 2100 Collyer Street to tour the building.

8:30 pm: Adjourn

Over the course of the gathering, we will visit the subject property, discuss how we envision using the building and grounds, explain the financial and other realities of the project, and invite your reactions, feedback and ideas.

A simple dinner of pizza, salad and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. Please bring a camp chair, if you can.

This is an important decision for the WRV community, and we need your support before we will go forward. This is YOUR organization and we welcome your ideas for its future. We hope to see you all there!

Patagonia, Boulder
Date(s):
Thursday Aug 08, 2019 - Number of Volunteers: 75
Join us at the Boulder Patagonia store for an evening of inspiration for action. Wild Hope, a 36-minute documentary, combines personal story, science, and passion in a unique mix to inspire viewers to protect wild ecosystems against a materialistic culture. Psychological research verifies that awe in the natural world turns our attention away from ourselves, inviting us to transcend our day-to-day agendas, and to care. Wild Hope dares to challenge the economic underpinnings driving climate change and awaken us to the possibility of a more meaningful life - a life not defined by consumption but by compassion.

Meet the film's executive producer and writer, WRV volunteer Suez Jacobson, who will introduce the film and lead a discussion afterward. Time to get fired up! www.wildhopefilm.com

Event co-sponsored by Patagonia.
